Birth of Legends

Unrelated to this post, but...

Downloaded Alpha 1 (on spring break, so I actually had time). I took a bunch of screenshots, but I must have been hitting the wrong key, so they didn't actually take. So here are my notes from play.

1. In-game login! Sweet! It works perfectly. Is there an option to go offline?

2. WASD! You are my hero. Problem is, the A and D keys need to be switched. They trigger the right animation, but the wrong directional movement. Also, in most MMO's with WASD, They use a key "`" or "\" to activate the command window. That way when you're using the keys for navigation, you don't get a bunch of "wwwwwwww" in the text area. The same key is used to return to navigation mode. Something that should probably be incorporated in a future release, but not a big deal for now.

3. The new character. Strange, but preferable to the gnu. Problem is that he doesn't stand on top of the snow, but goes through it about waist deep.

4. The shadow is only cast by the sword (I think that you mentioned this before?). It's also brown.

5. I found the lens flare!

6. Those fireworks look sweet from a distance.

7. What are those dead cat looking things?

8. Bunch of random NPC's. Some chilling at the spawn point, and "I hate whoever-it-was" elsewhere. Fun stuff.

9. Character is not far enough up the screen. Usually obscured by the input box.

10. The texturing on the sword doesn't look right... it's too bright.

11. I got stuck by a tree going up the hill with that statue at the top.

I think that's it for now... Have fun re-installing!

And here are my responses:

1. To play offline you just simply don't login :P .

2. Thanks for telling me about the A and D keys, I'll make sure to definitely have that fixed for the next update.

3. The stick figure is just temporary, but that probably means it will be around awhile. That waist thing, I'm still working on it, not sure how to fix it yet (not sure why it's not working properly).

4. Shadow: I can't figure out why the character doesn't cast one, I messed something up somewhere. And about the color, run it again and I bet it will change :) .

5. Yay! Kind of.

6. Thanks, I like the fireworks too. But does that mean you don't think they look good close up?

7. Those were supposed to be dog-like creatures but they have many problems at the moment. I'll probably replace them for the next update.

8. I haven't worked on AI much yet.

9. I can adjust the camera.

10. Well, I simply exported it from anim8or. It was your sword afterall. But I know what you mean. I'll look into it.

11. It's a common collision problem. That's something I'm working on.

So, I'll get back to work.

I'll have to take another look at them close up... had trouble seeing much of it when I was right under it... but I did see the top of the sky dome. I'll have to back off a little, and take another look.

Oh, right, the sky dome. For some strange reason that texture doesn't quite work right. I'll have to fix that too.
